As You Are Counseling &

Aimee Yeager, LPCC-S, PMH-C

Hello!

As You Are Counseling was created to give you a collaborative, compassionate space to be your truest self.

As You Are believes that:

  1. You are not broken and do not need to be “fixed.”

  2. You already have what it takes to heal and grow. Under the right conditions, you can find your path forward.

  3. You may need help finding new tools or supports to help you when this healing gets stuck.

  4. Healing looks different for each human.

And I’m Aimee! I’m looking forward to helping you meet your mental health goals by clarifying your core values, identifying your strengths, helping you build new coping skills, and connecting with or finding your supports. I also love being able to offer EMDR therapy for those who need help getting “unstuck”.

About Me: I am a northern-Kentucky local and professional counselor with 12 years total mental health experience in various settings. In college, I volunteered as a victim advocate for sexual assault survivors and as a consultant at the Butler County crisis line. After my bachelor’s degree, I worked as a mental health specialist in Clermont County high schools, helping students and their families to learn coping skills, connecting families with needed resources, and responding to crises in the community. I then studied at Xavier University and have been licensed as a counselor since 2020! I have provided therapy in schools, workplaces, homes, community settings, and outpatient therapy offices, so you could say I’m pretty adaptable. Oh, and I have specialized training in treating trauma and PTSD, as well as a certification in Perinatal Mental Health from Postpartum Support, International.

What can i expect during my first appointment with you?

Great question :) During the diagnostic assessment, I will explain my policies (such as attendance, confidentiality, contacting me between sessions, etc) and review the intake forms you completed first. Then I will ask you about:

  • The reason(s) that you’re seeking therapy

  • How you’re functioning in daily life (eating, sleeping, social life, your job, family relationships, hobbies, etc)

  • Your history - knowing the ups and downs of your story may help me get a better picture of the current problem

  • Your culture and cultural identities (race, ethnicity, spirituality, gender, sexuality) - the intention here is to understand and respect you as a whole person

  • Your family history of mental or physical health challenges

  • Your previous experiences with therapy or mental health services, if any

  • Your goals for therapy

  • And what is going well for you!

YOU ALWAYS GET TO SAY ‘NO’ OR ‘I’M NOT READY YET’ TO ANY QUESTIONS I MAY ASK!

You are welcome to bring any paperwork from previous testing or providers if there’s anything you’d like me to know. Examples might include ADHD or psychological testing documentation, or a medical leave from work. This is up to your comfort level.

If it helps you to communicate clearly, you’re welcome to write about these topics in a journal or your phone and bring it to the appointment! This isn’t an expectation, but can be helpful especially if you’re nervous.

You don’t accept my insurance plan! is there any way for me to use insurance benefits to see you?

5

Yes, somewhat! You have a couple of options:

I can accept HSA cards, for high-deductible plans.

I can provide superbills for your out-of-network claims.

  • I would recommend calling your insurance company and learning more about your plan’s out-of-network benefits! Here is a guide that can help you.

  • Please note: You will be responsible for submitting any out-of-network claims with insurance. The superbill I provide will have the information that your insurance company needs, such as service codes and my NPI number.

  • Mentaya.com also helps with submitting out-of-network claims to your insurance company, for a fee of 5% per claim.
